Lake Vermiliom is well known as one of the most scenic lakes in the country. You'll find rocky shoreline, weedy bays and sandy beaches; hundreds of small bays and large areas of open water; there's also miles of unfished wilderness shoreline. You can find more information on Lake Vermilion by visiting the DNR website

The Minnesota DNR has played an important role in turning Lake Vermilion into one of the premiere muskie fishing destinations in the country. Members of the Arrowhead chapter support our local DNR in their quest to maintain the trophy muskie fishery we have today. With the added pressure the lake receives during the summer months it's important to educate anglers on proper techniques to handle these large fish with care, there are more fish being caught now than ever before, proper catch and release will insure we have a trophy muskie fishery for years to come.
Members also donate their time on various projects around Lake Vermilion;
- Surveyed shoreline vegetation and substrate for the Arrowhead Regional Development Center.
- GPS'd large leafed pondweed, tobacco cabbage, for future monitoring of rusty crawfish impacts.
- Helped at DNR muskie rearing ponds.
- Did awareness boat checks at public landings for exotic species.
- Guided youth for Lake Vermilion Muskie Challenge.
- 120 Rod & Reels donated to date, to area youth organizations.
